As soon as these Louis Vuitton photos with Madonna started leaking they were criticized. I myself couldn't help but think these were so much better than the hideous wigged Madonna shots for Versace.
But maybe the timing of this Vuitton campaign fell victim to circumstances: Madonna's divorce made her seem icey, Madonna's face work made her look (literally) warped and desperate over her age, which is incongruous with her poses in these shots.
Nothing spells confidence about Madonna's image lately, so the poses suggest an aged flower unaware of its own wilt. Not appealing.
In an economic climate when high fashion runs the risk of being a little irrelevant, at least M and MJ got some buzz going, the shots noticed, and some really beautiful clothing seen. And the behind the scenes video is great for allowing us a glimpse of two creatives collaborating.
