I was late in opening the email from Kinetika Music (I've been buried in work), but apparently A.P. & DJ Cat's remix of Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" is getting noticed. Not that this would be the first time for the electro punk duo. They're talented!

HOLIDAYS IN SAN ANTONIO: Radius, Children's Chorus of San Antonio, Land of Virtuosity & Seth Montfort

It took a while but it feels like the holidays are here. The (earlier than usual) retail push to get shoppers shopping just didn't do it for me. And this being Texas, the weather wasn't inspiring anything either.

But within the last week or so, I started feeling festive. The holiday spirit's hit me. Mostly. Maybe the decorations downtown and the lights on the Riverwalk did the trick. More so it was probably spending last weekend photographing the Children's Chorus of San Antonio and their performance at the Alamo Heights Methodist Church. It was amazing. Kudos to those talented kids, and to the ladies running that program.

And last night I attended a holiday performance by Seth Montfort, as part of the Land of Virtuosity's first event at Radius. Mr. Montfort treated us to the likes of Chopin, Bach and Liszt while providing a bit of narrative between each piece. A moving, if lightly attended, night. And while I didn't take any photos, fashion designer and friend Agosto Cuellar was in attendance and he snapped a few. Maybe he'll be posting a few on his blog.

DIY FACTORY: This Weekend

(UPDATE: find photos from DIY Factory here.)

The 2nd Annual DIY Factory happens tomorrow, Saturday, November 15th.

Tickets are only $5, with part of the proceeds going to the Battered Women & Children Shelter of Bexar County.

Not only will there be a fashion show featuring the work of local talent, but the vendors, live art and activities will be too fun to miss.

We're definitely looking forward to this.

The 2nd Annual DIY Factory happens tomorrow, Saturday, November 15th.

WIP CREME at Jump-Start May 2010

From Jump-Start.org: WIP Crème will feature 6-8 artists performing short works that range from theatre to contemporary to hip-hop, amongst other genres. It showcases outstanding artists from the past season of W-I-P and is a pure celebration! W-I-P (Works-In-Progress/Wednesdays-In-Performance) is a collaboration between Jump-Start Performance Co. and San Antonio Dance Umbrella. It is a monthly lab space for new, in-progress dance and other movement-based performance works accompanied by a facilitated post-performance discussion. W-I-P is known for its eclecticism: modern dancers, belly dancers and performance artists have performed in the same evening and been inspired by each other, as well as expanding the audience’s perception of performance. For W-I-P Crème, we have selected some of our favourites from the past. The line-up will include Push Pens, Shimarella, Doyle Avant, PACDance, Northwest Vista College Dance Ensemble, Seme Jatib, Alysya Perez.

Swagg Presents Perez Hilton's One Night in Austin

It all started with finding out on Friday that we got into Perez's party at SXSW. Complete shock but so excited! It was like winning Willy Wonka's Golden Ticket. And by the time we received our magical wristband to walk through the doors at the Whitley, we had waited hours outside in anticipation of what was rumored to be The Place, The Party, The Event. And what we found? One word: "epic." After all, we were THIS CLOSE to Snoop Dogg, Courtney Love and Hole, Macy Gray as they performed one hit after another. And new acts like Marina and the Diamonds, and Alphabeat whetted our appetite, making us want to watch their ascendence in the near future. These are my shots from the night. Thanks Perez!

I like this night because it's easier to focus on the art and talk to the people responsible for the showing the work. This particular night ended at the Museo Alameda, for their DJ series.
